What side of my house should i put the solar panel on?

I am looking into putting a solar panel on my house, but i always get mixed up with which way the sun rises and sets in this country. What side of the house should the solar panel be put on?
Sorry, Im in England. Such a doofus sometimes.

No matter where you are on earth, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. In the norther hemisphere the sun tracks more to the south that is why positions of panels and windows to the south take advantage of the sun the best.

You need to consider not only the direction but the tilt of the solar panels too in order to get maximum efficiency.
I have included sole links about solar position and positioning solar panels. Hope it helps.

South. The sun travels from east to west, but is always at least slightly to the south, assuming you’re in the USA someplace.

    This country? Where are you?

The sun always rises in the east and sets in the west. In the winter, the sun will move across the southern part of the sky (in the northern hemisphere - US, Europe) In the summer, it will get closer to moving directly overhead. The solar panel will get the most exposure throughout the day on the southern side of the house.

Put the solar panel on the south or west facing roof. In the northern hemisphere that is where you will get the most sun.

You should install a solar panel on the roof so it gets the maximum amount of sunlight. On the side of a house it wil be in the shade half of the day.

I would hope if you are installing an electrical or water PV system the installer through whom you are buying the system will be very well versed and trained to place your panels exactly at the apex of sun availability on your property. Sometimes this is the side of a house, sometimes it is a ground-mount, most times it is the roof. Shading is a huge issue (trees, other buildings).
In America, the angle the panels are to the sun is so critical it directly affects the percentage of federal and state incentives/refunds one can get.
If you are installing a small product that uses solar to power itself (like my new solar powered motion-sensor flood lights) spend a day or so and observe a place around your home that gets sun all day. Consider we are right at the summer solstice and consider how this location will be affected the opposite time of year (winter solstice).
Lastly, a huge aspect to maintaining solar panels is regularly cutting back trees that might grow to shade the panels, removing debris and washing them. Even rain spots over time will affect the sun’s rays hitting the cells encapsulated (usually in glass).
    Good luck!

Put the panel on the west facing roof, in England that is where you will receive the longest exposure of sunlight!

You want to put it on the south roof if possible. If you have to put it either east or west you need to rack it up to the south to get the most out of it.In other words the panel can be on the east or west roof but tilted up to the south.I hope this makes sense.

It would be best to check with a professional to get the optimal tilt and orientation for your area. If you’re in a clear, dry area, I’d say orient the panels due south, and tilt to match latitude, but if you’re subject to the renowned London Fog, then your best orientation could be somewhat west of south, to allow the morning fog to burn off.

put the solar Panel on the north side of the roof. in england the sun comes up in the east and goes down in west. so as the sun arcs east to west. you will get sun light all day. if we ever get any sun light under a LABOUR GOVERNMENT
