    yeah those LCD …
yeah those LCD panels are a bugger to get apart without breaking them. i’ll keep my eyes out for a good glass fridge door in the scrap yard, provided they don’t break it with the machine :/

I’ll check my old work too to see if they have some old stock black and white powdered masterbatches, their pretty much pure carbon and TiO2

    yeah im after …
yeah im after fridge doors from the shop type-they have a ITO coating to stop frosting and allow the customer to see inside-you would be better placed to find this in your scrapping,so keep your eyes peeled-thats a lot more surface area and alot easier to get apart than a LCD panel.
    the.
yeah i spose the carbon and the TiO2 could be sprayed on-but the ITO is done with electron sputtering methods….

    why dont you try …
why dont you try using poke berries as they are very high in staining materials. I dont know if you have poke berries where you live though.

    Amazing! good idea …
Amazing! good idea using the plant matter as a source of organic dye!.

I’ve got dozens of old laptops with TFT LCD’s in them, would they behave the same or would it have to be an older style LCD like on a photocopier panel?

I guess for a bigger panel you could apply most coatings with a spray gun? like the TiO2 and carbon?

  10. m3sca1:

    plexigas is no …
plexigas is no good-you need a tin oxide layer on the glass-that is found in LCD panels and see thru fridge doors.

    That’s very nice, …
That’s very nice, easy and messy LOL

instead of LCD panels can you use thin plexiglass? Is there something in the LCD panel that contributes to the process?

  14. m3sca1:

    good question-i …
good question-i dont know-i suppose it would be dependant on the dye breaking down-at which time it can be re-opened and fresh dye applied-fast food shop refrigerator doors would be a better source of ITO glass than pulling down an old LCD screen.
    thanx for commenting

Did you now measure how much short circuit current you can draw from it ?

Please just hook up a Milliamp meter and let us know the ampdraw in good lighting.

im searching for a piece of glass from a shop fridge door, that also has the ITO plating on the glass.
much bigger panel-much less hassle than disassembling an LCD screen.
then i will make a much bigger panel, and post that for everyone.

Good Job buddy, But I was woundering if you can make another video, that has more detail.
this is a good video, but i would like to know if you have a improved cell.
i kinda understand how it works. thx

    finding big caps …
finding big caps has always been a bit of a problem.
i was once lucky enough to find an X-ray machine going to scrap, and i got into it before it was stripped ,and got a few large caps.
try keeping an eye on Oatley electronics and one i just found out about is George Taylor Stores.
regular visits to recycling co-ops and the like can also bag a bargain.

this is a bit off …
this is a bit off topic, but do u know of any good surplus electronics/military shops in aus??
I need some cheap second hand super capacitors…
